Potensic's own feature overview for the ATOM 2. These are manufacturer claims; the sections below cover what reviewers measured.

The Potensic ATOM 2 is the drone most often mentioned when people look for a budget alternative to DJI's entry-level models. It was announced in February 2025 as the successor to the original ATOM, and it has been out long enough for reviewers to put it through months of testing. Here is what they found, in plain terms.
The ATOM 2 weighs under 249g and shoots 4K video at 30 frames per second on a three-axis mechanical gimbal. Potensic lists a range of up to 10 km, a flight time of up to 32 minutes per battery, and AI tracking modes that follow, spotlight or fly parallel to a subject, according to The Gadgeteer's review. Tom's Guide compared it directly to the DJI Mini 4K, noting near-identical headline specs, and also reports that Potensic says it is about 40% quieter than the original ATOM.
The 32-minute figure is the maximum, measured in gentle conditions. T3 found it applaudable at around 32 minutes, but others measured less. Droneblog reported a little over 22 minutes in real flights, and The Drone Girl measured roughly 25 to 27 minutes. A realistic expectation is somewhere between 22 and 27 minutes per battery, so a Fly More Combo with extra batteries makes a real difference.
Flight stability. T3 and The Gadgeteer both describe it as confident and smooth in the air, comparing the feel favorably to DJI drones they've flown.
Camera quality for the price. T3 was surprised by how good the 4K footage looks from such a small camera. The three-axis gimbal helps keep it smooth.
Value. TechRadar gave it a top score for price and called it the best sub-250g DJI alternative at the time of its review.
No obstacle avoidance. Every review above mentions this. You have to watch your surroundings yourself, especially near trees and buildings.
Wind. Tom's Guide lists susceptibility to strong wind as a downside, so skip flying it on gusty days.
Small annoyances. Droneblog notes the batteries have no LED charge indicators. The Drone Girl points out that flight data stays inside Potensic's app with no easy export to services like Airdata, which matters mostly if you fly commercially or keep maintenance logs.
Prices depend on the retailer and bundle. The Gadgeteer listed $349.99 for the standard version and $479.99 for the Fly More Combo, The Drone Girl puts the range at $300 to $500, and one price tracker showed $399.99 at Best Buy. Expect roughly $300 to $500 depending on what's in the box.
Buy the ATOM 2 if you're a beginner or hobbyist who wants a capable 4K drone without paying DJI prices, and you're comfortable flying without obstacle avoidance.
Skip it if you want automatic collision avoidance, you often fly in strong wind, or you need the best low-light camera. The newer ATOM 3 has a bigger sensor if camera quality is the priority.
Shop Potensic ATOM 2 →The ATOM 2 isn't a perfect drone, but it's an honest one: good camera, steady flight and a fair price, with the trade-off that it has no obstacle sensors and real-world flight time falls short of the claim. For many first-time pilots, that's a trade worth making.
